Britney Spears Turns 43 And Becomes A ‘Legally Single’ Woman

Singer Britney Spears is starting two new chapters in her life today – her 43rd birthday and the first day of being legally single from her prior marriage.

The “If U Seek Amy” performer was given the official declaration from the Los Angeles court system on Monday, finally marking the end of her union with model and actor Sam Asghari.

The two separated in July 2023 with Asgari filing one month later, citing irreconcilable differences with Spears.

Spears’ legal declaration was first exclusively reported here on The Blast in May 2024, with court documents noting the singer’s response to Asghari’s initial divorce petition.

A judge approved the couple’s divorce on May 2nd, just one day after he was said to have made the filing.

As per PEOPLE, Spears and Asghari separated in July 2023, just 13 months after their wedding. The two met while filming the singer’s “Slumber Party” remix music video in 2016.

A source connected to Spears told the publication that at the time of the filing, “Britney is continuing to flex her freedom and is moving on.”

Though there were whispers that 30-year-old Asghari would challenge their prenup, no such action ever came to pass, with the source noting that his separation from Spears was “amicable.”

Taking self-love to new heights, Spears shared a video of herself wearing a wedding dress to Instagram in October and declared that she had tied the knot again – this time, with herself.

“Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid,” she noted in the video’s caption, “but I think it’s the most brilliant thing I’ve ever done!”

She has also since rekindled a connection with her youngest son, Jayden James, who was said to have reunited with Spears after moving with his father, Kevin Federline, to Hawaii in 2023.

Federline’s attorney noted that the singer previously “consented” to Jayden and her oldest son, 19-year-old Sean Preston, moving to the “Rainbow State” with their dad, his current wife, Victoria Prince, and the married couple’s two young children.

18-year-old Jayden reportedly “hung out” with his superstar mom at her Los Angeles home, which made her very “happy,” according to a source.

Asghari opened up about his marriage to Spears over the summer, expressing no “Toxic” feelings toward the singer or their separation.

“You learn so much from being in relationships in general,” he warmly stated. “I appreciate all the amazing experiences that I got.”

Noting the singer as an “amazing person,” the contender in the upcoming third season of Peacock’s The Traitors said his marriage to Spears would be “something that’s always going to be a part of me.”

Sam’s kind words mirrored the statement he first gave when he announced his separation from Spears.

“After 6 years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together,” Asghari wrote via an Instagram Story in August 2023.

“We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always.”

While Britney continues to love on herself after her divorce, Sam’s rebound relationship with realtor Brooke Irvine, who some believe bears significant resemblance to his famous ex.

Cameras caught the new couple canoodling over the recent Thanksgiving holiday, first out at a West Hollywood-area restaurant on Wednesday, then going for a stroll with Sam’s dog later that day.

In photos captured of their outing, Sam can be seen placing his hand on the small of Brooke’s back as the two enter the restaurant. In another, Brooke leans close to Sam while wrapping her hands around one of his biceps.

Though they have been seen multiple times since mid-September, Asghari has been mum regarding their relationship status.

Now seemingly retired from the music industry, Britney’s birthday coincidentally shares an anniversary with a significant moment from her days as an active performer.

16 years ago, the singer released Circus, her sixth studio album and the first following the conservatorship placed on the star one year before.

Considered a “comeback” by the music industry, the LP assisted with clearing away much of the negative press that followed the singer starting in 2007. The set garnered Spears her fifth No. 1 Billboard 200 album and her second No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hit with the lead single, “Womanizer.”
