Chappell Roan, the 26-year-old pop sensation, has emerged as the betting favorite to win Best New Artist at the Grammys.

Roan is expected to beat out stiff competition from Sabrina Carpenter and Shaboozey.

However, the Missouri native might struggle in other categories.

Betting Markets Predict Chappell Roan Has 75% Chance To Win Best New Artist

Just hours before the 2025 Grammy Awards, popstar Chappell Roan emerged as the favorite to win the Best New Artist Award.

The award given to an impactful artist who has “achieved a breakthrough into the public consciousness” within the year’s eligibility is expected to be highly competitive.

However, according to betting markets, Roan has a -430 odds to take home the award, which translates to a probability winning chance of 81.13%.

Roan is ahead of her friend and fellow nominee Sabrina Carpenter, the second favorite, with +250 odds and an implied probability chance of 28.57% per Action Network.

Roan and Carpenter are ahead of other nominees, including Shaboozey, Raye, Teddy Swims, Benson Boone, Doechii, and Khruangbin.

Although the betting markets are sometimes wrong, and someone else might take the crown, Roan can attend the event knowing she’s a favorite to win at least one award.

After her fantastic rise to the Billboard charts in 2024, Roan saw her efforts rewarded with six Grammy nominations.

In addition to being nominated for Best New Artist, the “H-O-T-T-O-G-O” crooner received nominations for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year, all for “Good Luck Babe.”

Roan’s album “Chappell Roan: The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album and Album Of The Year.

However, besides being the favorite to win Best New Artist, Roan might find it hard to take home any other awards.

The “Pop Princess” only has a 10% chance of winning Album of the Year, a 15.38% chance of winning Song of the Year, and a 4.35% chance of winning Record of the Year.

Roan might have been nominated for six awards at the Grammys, but the 26-year-old pop star has weird feelings about the show.

While appearing as a guest on “On A Carpool Karaoke Christmas with Zane Lowe,” which aired on Apple TV+ on December 16, 2024, Roan made her feelings known about the Grammys.

“It’s such a double-edged sword for me because I’m like, ‘Yes, it is a talent show for the popular kids.’ But the other side is, ‘Oh my God, how amazing is it that a gay artist wrote a gay song that went No. 1, with a gay writer who did not grow up in the industry, did not have an in, and has been busting her a– for like a decade?'” Roan explained, per Billboard.

Meanwhile, the Missouri native hinted she might say something disruptive at the Grammys if she won any awards.

“I don’t have a speech yet, but you know me. I’m going to say something controversial. Why not? Girl, what do I have to lose,” she concluded.

Roan Is Hoping She Doesn’t Win A Grammy

Many musicians often dream about winning a Grammy, but not Roan, who is slightly hoping she doesn’t win any of her six nominations.

In an interview with The Face published on September 16, 2024, Roan remarked, “My mom would love to go to the Grammys or the Brits, [but] I’m kind of hoping I don’t win, because then everyone will get off my a–: ‘See guys, we did it and we didn’t win, bye!’ I won’t have to do this again.'”

Instead of winning a plaque, Roan revealed that her biggest goal is sustainability. The musician explained that her brain is telling her to quit and take a year off because “the bigger you get, the more unhealthy you become.”

“The ambition is: How do I not hate myself, my job, my life, and do this? Because right now, it’s not working. I’m just scrambling to try to feel healthy,” Roan declared.
