Drought: Use water wisely | The Seattle Times

Re: “Driest part of the year is just getting started” (July 7, Northwest) and “Seattle’s population tops 800,000 mark, state data shows” (July 7, A1):

It will be in the best interest of all of us if Seattle Public Utilities steps up the information it makes available to the public regarding water use.

Newcomers to the city need to learn where their water is coming from and need to know that we’re currently in a drought. We all need to be reminded to pay attention to how much water we use and to be reminded that we are responsible for turning water off completely when we’re finished. All the 816,600 of us want showers, to do our laundry, water our gardens and flush our toilets — that’s a lot of water.

We all need to be made aware of the part each of us has in using water wisely.

    Diane Steen, Seattle
