Eagles suddenly have new concern with A.J. Brown

Coming off a must-win game against the Minnesota Vikings after losing two straight, the Philadelphia Eagles enter Week 8 with the chance to get revenge against one of the teams that handed them one of those losses, the New York Giants.

The Eagles need to take advantage of the Giants’ variable defense, which ranks 29th in the league (376.0 yards) after allowing 33 points in the fourth quarter to Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos offense. Nix had two rushing and two passing touchdowns. However, they could be down a key player on their offense, wide receiver A.J. Brown, who unexpectedly showed up on Wednesday’s injury report.

A.J. Brown unexpectedly shows up on Wednesday’s injury report

After having his best game of the season with 121 yards receiving and two touchdowns, Brown did not practice on Wednesday. Chris McPherson of the Eagles reported that Brown is dealing with a hamstring issue. This is the first time this season Brown has found his way onto the injury report.

Eagles need A.J. Brown in the lineup to win against Giants

Struggling all season to figure out their offense, the Eagles need Brown in the lineup in their rematch against the Giants. New York is only the 26th-best passing defense (245.3 yards) and allowed two Broncos receivers, Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims Jr., to have 172 of the team’s 279 yards thrown in the air.

Even if Brown is unable to go on Sunday, the Eagles can still threaten the Giants in the passing game. They have one of the league’s best No. 2 options, DeVonta Smith. Along with Brown, both WRs combined for 304 yards receiving and three touchdowns against the Vikings.

With the Philly passing game straightened out, the next area that needs mending is the run game, which has been less than stellar. Saquon Barkley still has not had 100+ yards rushing through seven games. The only time in Barkley’s career he started the first seven games of the season with none over 100+ yards rushing was in 2021, when he totaled 260 yards.
