Re: “Is answer to pricey cars a Bezos-backed pickup without power windows?” (May 14, Business):
I never owned a truck, but I reserved a Slate truck because it seems like a reliable electric vehicle made by an innovative company run by competent, well-meaning people. In 2019, my wife and I bought a Tesla Model 3 for similar reasons.
Though I still believe there are competent, well-meaning people working at Tesla, it’s clear that Elon Musk and upper management are no longer well-meaning. I want to believe that Slate will not repeat this pattern because the CEO, Chris Barman, unlike Musk, has worked recently for other people, so maybe she values cooperation and playing by the rules.
I look forward to reading more articles about Slate and other innovative vehicles like the Telo MT-1 electric truck.
