Jhené Aiko was among the many people who suffered terrible losses during the Pacific Palisades fires in January.

Amid the tragedy, she announced via an Instagram Stories post that she and her kids lost their home in the wildfires.

After initially expressing gratitude that she and her children were safe, Aiko wrote, “Praying for everyone this morning. Those who lost their home, those who lost their life’s work, those who lost their life. Praying for my city. Praying for the wildlife and lost pets. Praying for the world. Let suffering be a gift; a lesson in compassion.”

In another slide, Aiko, who shares son Noah Hasani with rapper Big Sean and daughter Namiko Love Browner with her former love and R&B singer O’Ryan, told her fans she would be starting over after losing her home.

Jhené Aiko Shuts Down Paris Hilton Comparisons

After Aiko shared details of her home loss, The Shade Room reposted her posts, and many fans commiserated with her.

However, some people lacking empathy noted that the mother of two was as rich as Paris Hilton, who also lost her property in the massive inferno, and could easily buy another home.

Aiko learned about the comments and quickly responded to them in the post’s comment section. “The fact that some of you think I have Paris Hilton money is wild,” she began. “I don’t got it like that, but I do have a big, loving family that is worth more than anything,” she began.

The “Stay Ready” crooner recalled when her family home got burned when she was seven years old and shared how they helped each other overcome the challenging period.

She wrote, “When I was in the 2nd grade, our home burned down with everything in it. I never understood why some of the kids at school were so mean about it, because they thought we were rich when we weren’t. But they thought we were rich because we had love!!”

Aiko continued, “My family and our friends came together and made sure my mom and me and my siblings had at least 1 new sweat suit and 1 pair of shoes the very next day.”

The 37-year-old concluded, “I am fortunate enough to be in a better situation than back then. And I pray I can have as much grace as my mother did during that time. I work very hard for my family. I pray that you all stay safe. God bless.”
