Fans React as Calvin Harris Shares Wife’s Placenta Pills Online

Vick Hope and Calvin Harris have welcomed their first child in the most intimate and unconventional way.

The couple’s baby boy, Micah, was born in a candlelit water birth at their home in Ibiza, with Harris proudly announcing his arrival online.

However, in addition to the couple welcoming their bundle of joy, another thing that stole headlines was Hope’s surprising choice to transform her placenta into pills after delivery.

The 35-year-old BBC Radio 1 host gave birth in a birthing pool surrounded by candles, as revealed in photos Calvin Harris shared on Instagram.

The Scottish DJ posted heartfelt words alongside the images, writing, “20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here! My wife is a superhero, and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! Just so grateful. We love you so much, Micah.”

The intimate photographs captured Hope resting in the pool, as well as a tender moment between Harris and his newborn son.

However, Harris also included a striking image of the placenta, which was later processed into capsules for Hope.

According to the Daily Mail, the practice, known as placentophagy, involves drying, grinding, and encapsulating the placenta into supplement-style pills.

Advocates claim the ritual helps mothers recover by balancing hormones, reducing postpartum depression, boosting milk supply, and replenishing iron levels.

While many swear by its benefits, medical experts remain cautious.

According to health authorities, there is no scientific evidence to support the claim that consuming the placenta provides measurable health benefits.

Still, Hope’s decision highlights a growing trend among celebrity mothers embracing holistic postnatal rituals.

The couple, who married in 2023, appears to be relishing their new chapter as parents.

Many of Harris’s fans took turns congratulating him and his wife following their son’s birth.

One person wrote, “Amazing news, congratulations guys.” Another person added, “Brilliant. Congrats to you both.”

However, while most of the comments to Harris’s post were congratulatory, some fans debated over the DJ’s decision to post his baby’s placenta on social media.

One person who didn’t enjoy seeing the photo wrote, “I don’t understand why you need to show the world that. Just do it and keep it private.” Another person warned, “Congratulations, but don’t go eating that placenta.”

On the other hand, a fan who had no issues with the couple’s decision to embrace placentophagy wrote, “Love to see the placenta!! Amazing, we grow a whole new organ to provide life! Good job not wasting it either, that’s some goddess magic right there!”

A second fan added, “That looks like a beautiful and empowering birth. I love that you share all these pictures with us. Welcome to the world, little one!”

Calvin Harris and Vick Hope’s romance took years to blossom, but it has become one of music’s sweetest love stories.

Their first encounter dates back to 2007 when Harris asked Hope out, only to be turned down. Years later, Hope reflected per Us Weekly, “It’s something that we laughed about on our first proper date. We still laugh about it now.”

The two eventually reconnected, going public with their relationship in 2022. Hope sparked engagement rumors that May after being seen with a diamond ring in London, though she made it clear she valued privacy.

“You know what, I was very overwhelmed by the interest in it, but I’m keeping my private life private,” she explained to Hello! Magazine. By September 2023, the couple reportedly tied the knot in a picturesque ceremony in Northumberland.

Since then, they’ve made only a handful of public appearances, including the 2024 Grammys. Hope shared with You Magazine, “There’s a difference between secrecy and privacy. We don’t really put anything on social media because the time we have together is ‘real life.'”
