Freeway closures: Don’t forget bikes and scooters

Thank you for recommending transit as a way to cope with freeway closures (“How to handle this weekend’s closure on I-5 through Seattle” (July 19, Northwest).

Next time remember that bikes and scooters are transportation, too, especially useful for travel to and from transit. Many bus routes and Link Light Rail stations connect directly to our expanding network of safe bike routes.

Since the weather is perfect for two-wheeled travel, encouragement could nudge reluctant readers to get out that dusty bike.

    Merlin Rainwater, Seattle
