Jennifer Lopez Left In Shock After Interviewer’s Remarks About Age

Jennifer Lopez was stunned during a recent interview when the conversation took an unexpected turn.

At just 55 years, the singer has proven that she’s still got it, but the interviewer’s thoughtless joke about her age sparked a moment of awkward tension.

Jennifer Lopez has yet to finalize her divorce from actor Ben Affleck, but the pair recently reunited to watch their children perform in a school play.

Lopez tactfully handled a strange comment about her age that was made during an interview by Variety‘s Senior Awards Editor, Clayton Davis.

The actress had attended the screening for her latest film, “Unstoppable,” where she was interviewed by Davis, who joked about the fact that she was getting older.

“I can’t believe it’s been 30 years since Selena,” he said in a clip shared by TMZ, referring to her role in the 1997 biopic, “Selena,” about iconic Mexican-American singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez.

“I can’t believe that in 30 years, we’re going to do a retrospective of this, and you will be 60 by then, which is…” he continued.

Davis’ comments seemingly left the “Let’s Get Loud” singer stunned as she replied, “Wow.” He further joked that she was “getting up there” in age, leaving the crowd gasping in disbelief.

Lopez handled the awkward scene gracefully as she nodded her head and quietly replied, “I am,” while someone in the crowd asked, “Did he just say that?”

She then addressed the comment before Davis clarified that it was a “joke.”

The “Maid in Manhattan” actress appeared unbothered with the situation as she turned to the crowd and said she wanted to thank them for being with her for a “long time.”

“What a journey this has been,” she said, “and I honestly feel that the best is yet to come.”

“I honestly feel that my creativity and who I am as an artist is like you said… I also feel that this, for me, was another kind of level of going deeper into who I am as a person or as an artist. And these type of roles change you,” the actress continued.

“They come to you at times in your life when you need them, and they help you grow and they heal you in a way,” Lopez added.

The Variety interview comes after Lopez reunited with her estranged husband, Ben Affleck, and his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, last Friday to watch their children in a school play in L.A.

According to the Daily Mail, Lopez’s son, Emme, and Affleck’s child, Fin, performed together in the play. After they took their bows, the actor was seen waiting to congratulate his child and stepson.

The “Argo” actor was also seen giving Emme a warm embrace and kissing him on the head before bidding him goodbye.

A source told the news outlet that Lopez “looked on adoringly” as she waited to give Emme a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

The exes were also seen talking to each other while interacting with the other attendees at the event.

Earlier this year, the pair were embroiled in rumors of a marital discord after they went months without being pictured together in public.

Lopez finally filed to dissolve their marriage in August, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

Although Affleck and Garner ended their marriage in 2018, the pair have seemingly managed to keep their relationship cordial and have been seen spending time together.

They and their three children recently volunteered to share meals with people experiencing homelessness in L.A., but this family moment seemingly upset Lopez.

“Jen [Lopez] felt threatened by Jennifer [Garner] for almost all of her marriage – the way Ben would run to her for advice any time they had a fight drove her crazy,” a source told Heat World.

“Jen had every reason to believe she and Ben were going to be spending a lot of time together over the holidays because he promised that he’d split his time 50/50 between her and Jennifer Garner,” they continued. “But then when he flaked on their plans and had dinner at Jennifer’s instead, it was humiliating for Jen because she’d told everyone that Ben would be there for dinner.”

Though the reasons behind the couple’s split remain unclear, Lopez has since broken her silence on their divorce in a chat with Interview Magazine.

According to the actress, while she does not regret taking the decision, the “pain” of the aftermath almost took her “out for good.”

However, Lopez now views it as the catalyst she needed to steer her life in the direction it was meant to follow.

She shared, “Now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F-ck, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, god. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times. I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it. You had to hit me really hard over the head with a f-cking sledgehammer. You dropped the house on me. Don’t have to do it again.'”
