MAHA: Ironic concept | The Seattle Times

Re: “Bad diets, too many meds, no exercise: A look inside the latest ‘Make America Healthy Again’ report” (Aug. 15, Health):

The irony of the concept of “Make America Healthy Again” is that this is the administration that has reduced funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for families in need; has slashed $1 billion for school lunch programs; is taking away Environmental Protection Agency standards for clean air; does not support protecting our national parks and has drastically cut the jobs of those who are preserving the health of our public lands; has taken steps to cut scientific research at universities and from scientists; does not believe in global warming; is making it harder for those on Medicaid to get care; is taking away Head Start programs for children; is not protecting our oceans and waters; and the list continues.

How can anyone sitting in this administration envision making America healthy again with all of that is healthful taken out of the America we live in?

    Wendy Wands, Anacortes
