Martha Stewart has just revealed a stunning confession about her personal life, admitting to infidelity during her marriage.

In her new Netflix documentary, “Martha,” which drops on October 30, the lifestyle mogul reveals a shocking truth—one not even her ex-husband, Andy Stewart, was privy to, she says.

The pair married for nearly three decades after tying the knot in 1961. In 1965, they welcomed their daughter, Alexis Stewart.

However, Martha Stewart’s marriage faced challenges, leading to their divorce in 1990.

Martha’s new Netflix documentary traces her remarkable journey from her teen years as a model to becoming the United States’ first self-made female billionaire.

Naturally, the documentary also addresses her time in federal prison, where she spent five months in 2004 after being found guilty on charges that included conspiracy and obstruction of justice related to a stock sale. However, perhaps most surprising is the revelation that she cheated on her husband.

“Young women, listen to my advice, if you’re married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of sh-t,” she said, per People Magazine. “Get out of that marriage.”

A producer then chimes in, “Didn’t you have an affair early on?” to which Martha admits, “Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that.”

Martha Stewart’s divorce from her first husband, Andy, was finalized in 1990 after nearly three decades of marriage. The couple married in 1961 and welcomed their daughter, Alexis, in 1965. Throughout their marriage, Martha established herself as a successful businesswoman, while Andy, a prominent figure in business and finance, supported her career.

Their relationship faced challenges over the years, culminating in their separation in 1987 and subsequent divorce in 1990. “Getting divorced was a terrible thing for me, because we were the first to divorce in my family,” she said. “And that we haven’t spoken since the divorce is even more painful. But I’m very strong, and I’m very motivated to get on with life.”

The divorce was reported to be amicable, but Martha took the opportunity to begin focusing on her business, becoming a household name and an influential figure in the home and lifestyle media.

Martha’s time in federal prison began in 2004 after she was convicted on charges related to the sale of her shares in ImClone Systems. The charges included conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and making false statements to investigators.

The case stemmed from Martha’s sale of approximately 4,000 shares of ImClone stock just before the company announced negative news about one of its drugs, causing the stock price to plummet.

The now 83-year-old maintained her innocence throughout the trial, claiming that her decision to sell the stock was based on a prior agreement with her broker and not insider information. Despite her defense, she was found guilty in March 2004 and subsequently sentenced to five months in federal prison, followed by five months of home confinement and two years of probation.

“I was a trophy for these idiots,” Martha says in the trailer of her upcoming documentary. “I was dragged into solitary, no food or water. Those prosecutors should have been put in a Cuisinart and turned on high.”

Her incarceration became a media sensation, significantly impacting her public image. However, upon her release in March 2005, she made a remarkable comeback, quickly returning to her business and re-establishing herself as a leading figure in the lifestyle industry.

She has often spoken about her time in prison as a transformative experience that taught her valuable lessons about resilience and perseverance.

“It was horrifying and no one, no one, should have to go through that kind of indignity really except for murderers, and there are a few other categories, but no one should have to go through that,” she said about prison, per People. “It’s a very, very awful thing.
