    Re: “National Guard in D.C.: ‘Trying to stop the bleeding’ ” (Aug. 14, Northwest Voices):

    The Trump administration withheld $1 billion from the Washington, D.C., government. While about half of that has been restored, that money would or should have gone to hiring more police officers.

    D.C.’s crime is not in the Top 30 crime cities, according to Newsweek magazine.
