Members of the San Francisco 49ers were flying high after the club began the season with impressive back-to-back wins.
However, it appears that the 49ers received a tough break ahead of their home game versus the 1-1 Arizona Cardinals this coming Sunday.
How long could 49ers be without Nick Bosa?
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter, 49ers star pass-rusher Nick Bosa “is expected to miss multiple weeks after suffering a calf injury in practice this week.” Rapoport and Schefter confirmed that Bosa will not play against the Cardinals.
“It remains to be seen if [Bosa] will be placed on injured reserve,” Rapoport and Schefter added. Bosa would miss a minimum of four straight games while on IR.
Bosa had been attempting to reclaim his best form amid his return from the season-ending ACL tear he suffered on Sept. 21, 2025. More recently, he dealt with tendinitis in his surgically repaired knee this past summer. While he played in the 49ers’ first two games of the campaign, he did not record a sack in those contests.
Per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, Bosa has tallied seven total tackles with two tackles for loss and one QB hit this season.
Why Nick Bosa injury will reignite trade chatter
Throughout the summer, the 49ers were among the teams that were repeatedly linked with Las Vegas Raiders star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby. One August report hinted that the “framework” for a Crosby trade involving the 49ers and Raiders already existed. Additionally, it was hinted shortly before the first Sunday of the regular season arrived that Crosby could welcome a move to an advertised contender before the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
However, the situation presumably has changed now that the Raiders have won their first two games of the season. Crosby “never wanted to leave” the Raiders, the team that drafted him in 2019, this past offseason, and Las Vegas seemingly could remain competitive through the fall.
That said, whispers linking the Niners with Crosby could grow louder if the Raiders lose more than they win through the end of October. Las Vegas next plays at the 1-1 New Orleans Saints this coming Sunday.
