Sixty five years ago a number of us high school students left Franklin High School to open a new high school — Rainier Beach High School in South Seattle. Recently, a group of us from that original class of ’62 toured the brand-new Rainier Beach facility.
We were totally impressed! The building itself is a jewel for the district and the community. Even more impressive are the opportunities to be offered to the attending students. Wide choices for academic and career path studies are available, and student support services are a core part of the faculty’s daily focus. All of this occurs under the visionary management of Annie Patu, principal, and her staff.
After our tour, we all felt excited and inspired. Rainier Beach truly represents a place to prepare the upcoming generation to successfully meet the world. Go Vikings!
