Rashid Shaheed wants to ‘run it back’ with the Seahawks

After winning Super Bowl LX, the Seattle Seahawks head into the offseason with pending free agents worth retaining, including running back Kenneth Walker III and wide receiver Rashid Shaheed. But can they keep them both?

The Seahawks acquired Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints at the trade deadline; he tallied 59 catches for 687 yards and two touchdowns in 2025. One of the more underrated acquisitions at the deadline, Shaheed hopes to be “run it back” in Seattle.

Rashid Shaheed wants to win, and re-signing with the Seahawks gives him the best chance

Having experienced a title run with a team destined to be good for a while, Shaheed is eager to play for a winner.

Shaheed was pedestrian as a receiver in Seattle’s Super Bowl run, catching three passes for 78 yards, with his best game coming against the Los Angeles Rams (51 yards) in the NFC Championship Game.

However, he is a special-teams demon, excelling on kick and punt returns. In 2025, he had three returns for TDs, including a 95-yard kickoff return in the divisional round against the San Francisco 49ers.

Seahawks may have to choose between Rashid Shaheed or Kenneth Walker III in free agency

Having two of their best offensive weapons as free agents, the Seahawks may have to choose between either signing Walker III or Shaheed.

Walker III may prove to be the more expensive of the two, as he had his second 1,000-yard rushing season in 2025 (1,027 yards and five rushing touchdowns) and was named Super Bowl MVP (135 yards rushing). Walker III was the first running back since Hall of Famer Terrell Davis of the Denver Broncos in 1998 to win that award.

Seattle also has several pending free agents on defense, including defensive tackle Josh Jones and edge-rusher Boye Mafe. Because the defense was instrumental in Seattle’s Super Bowl run, the Seahawks will face tough roster-building decisions.
