Rockies end historic scoreless streak vs. Padres

SAN DIEGO — The Colorado Rockies were looking for any way they could to get on the scoreboard against the San Diego Padres. Then an unexpected source of power provided the end to what had been a historic run of zeroes inside Petco Park on Friday.

Blaine Crim, called up from Triple-A earlier in the day, blasted a three-run home run with two outs in the third inning off Padres starter JP Sears to snap Colorado’s scoreless streak in San Diego at 41.0 innings, putting an end to a franchise-record run of zeroes. Before Crim’s home run, the Rockies had not scored in San Diego since the seventh inning of a game on August 4, 2024. That included a three-game scoreless sweep in San Diego in April and a 2-0 defeat to open the series on Thursday night.

Crim’s home run was not only his first hit for the Rockies, but also his first MLB hit as well. His only previous experience in the Majors came earlier this season when he went 0-for-11 in five games with the Texas Rangers.
