Weeks after settling her bombshell lawsuit against NFL Hall of Fame legend Shannon Sharpe, Gabrielle Zuniga, the woman who accused him of rape in April 2025, has shared an interesting message on Instagram.

For those who may be unfamiliar, Sharpe, a three-time Super Bowl champion, was accused of rape and sexual misconduct in a shocking $50 million lawsuit that was filed in April 2025. At the time, Zuniga filed under the name “Jane Doe” before revealing her identity.

Sharpe fired back at the accusations in the lawsuit, claiming to be a victim of a “shake down” by Zuniga’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, who has had public feuds with other notable stars, including Jay-Z.

Although Sharpe promised to sue Zuniga and Buzbee for defamation, the former NFL player-turned-podcaster eventually settled the case out of court.

Buzbee shared the news with the public weeks ago, as reported by The Blast, stating that he and his client had engaged in “respectful negotiations” with Sharpe, which led to a “mutually agreed upon resolution.”

It is unclear how much the lawsuit was settled for, but sources claim it was for a whopping $23 million.

Shannon Sharpe’s Accuser Is Feeling ‘Blessed’

Weeks after Sharpe settled the case, Zuniga shared a picture of a Bible passage on Instagram, which read, “You have freed me from the feuds among my people; you have preserved me as the head of nations.”

The verse went on, “The Lord lives — blessed be my rock! God, the rock of my salvation, is exalted.”

It continued, “God — he grants me vengeance and casts down people under me. He frees me from my enemies. You exalt me above my adversaries; you rescue me from violent men.”

Fans React To Zuniga’s Bible Verse Online

Following Zuniga’s post with the Bible verse, which went viral, many users commented on the incident at hand, continuing to slam Sharpe for getting himself involved in a messy situation to begin with.

One user called Sharpe an “easy target,” while another said they “don’t feel sorry for him not one bit.”

A third user also chimed in, criticizing Sharpe for being “finessed” by a woman in her early 20s, which ultimately led to him losing his job with ESPN on “First Take.”

“Shannon will always be a big old dummy,” they continued.

Shannon Sharpe’s Accuser Also Retired From OnlyFans After Reaching A Settlement With The NFL Star

And this is not the first time Zuniga has shared a post that fans believed was a subtle jab at the NFL legend.

In another story, covered by The Blast, Zuniga shared that she was retiring from making content on the subscription-based site, OnlyFans, weeks after her settlement with Sharpe.

“Thank you for the incredible support you’ve shown me over the past few years. This community has given me a life I could have never imagined. I’ll still be active on social media and have several new projects in the works that I can’t wait to share! I’m truly excited for this next chapter. I love you all forever and ever,” she said.

    Sharpe Was Fired From ESPN

Amid all of this, Sharpe was axed from his position on ESPN’s “First Take,” which also stars prominent sports commentator Stephen A. Smith.

After news of the initial lawsuit became public, the “Club Shay Shay” host took a step back from the show to let things shake out. However, after settling the case, ESPN and Disney severed all ties with Sharpe, permanently removing him from the “First Take” lineup.

During an episode of his night show, “Nightcap,” which he hosts with Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Sharpe expressed his disappointment with ESPN over the timing of his firing.

According to him, he asked the network to delay the news about his contract until after his brother, Sterling Sharpe, had been inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame later that week.

“Unfortunately, it didn’t happen that way,” he said. “But I just wish … this thing could’ve waited until Monday, because I hate the fact that I’m overshadowing my brother.”
