The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Chase couldn’t be off to a better start for Sheldon Creed.
After winning at Darlington on Sept. 5 and finishing runner-up to Jesse Love at Gateway on Sept. 12, Creed won Friday’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway in overtime, holding off William Sawalich to take his third win of 2026.
Creed had not won a race in his O’Reilly Series career prior to this season.
Love had previously used up Justin Allgaier to get to the lead with less than 20 laps remaining, which sent Allgaier back to fourth. Love finished the race in 17th.
Sawalich, Brent Crews, Allgaier and Corey Day rounded out the top five, with Taylor Gray, Sam Mayer, Parker Retzlaff, Dean Thompson and Sammy Smith completing the top 10.
Creed now has an 11-point lead over Allgaier in the standings going into the Oct. 3 race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Carson Kvapil, who is third (-37) finished 24th after incurring an earlier penalty. Love, the defending series champion, is fourth in the standings, 41 points back of Creed.
