Is one of sports broadcasting’s longest marriages on the rocks?
On Wednesday, Front Office Sports’ Ryan Glasspiegel reported that tension has bubbled up between 25-year boothmates Joe Buck and Troy Aikman over their respective contracts.
Why are things growing tense between Joe Buck and Troy Aikman
In September, ESPN reportedly signed Buck to a six-year, $108M contract extension to remain as the play-by-play voice for “Monday Night Football.” Aikman, however, has yet to sign a contract extension.
The situation reportedly created friction between the two. Per Glasspiegel, Buck tried to “break the ice” before Monday’s game between the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Rams. His attempt to start conversation with Aikman led to an argument. It eventually de-escalated, and no problems arose during the broadcast.
