The Cleveland Guardians once again rode a September surge to steal the American League Central crown, doing to the Chicago White Sox this year what they did to the Tigers in 2025.
But in Game 1 of the ALDS against those White Sox, Cleveland’s bats showed some of the rust that can come with almost a week off, mustering just three hits in the 3-0 loss. If they want to avoid losing in the postseason to the team they caught in the regular season once again, they’re going to need six-time Silver Slugger Jose Ramirez to step up.
J-Ram is coming off a sub-par season by his standards, hitting .235 with just 12 home runs and 53 RBI, both his lowest totals since the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign. His next challenge will come against Anthony Kay, who made 31 starts for the White Sox this year after spending the previous two seasons in Japan. They’ve faced each other four times, with Ramirez going 0-for-3 with a walk and three groundouts.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. While he’s struggled this season, Ramirez has plenty of pedigree of production, hitting 30 homers in four seasons and joining the 30/30 club back-to-back campaigns in 2024 and 2025. With that being said, can you name the most recent 30-home run hitter for each MLB franchise?
Good luck!
