The ‘MLB HR leaders since 1997’ quiz

The Seattle Mariners are clinging to a 0.5-game lead over the Athletics in the American League West, but some major help (should) be on the way.

2025 home run and RBI champion Cal Raleigh – who went on the Injured List for the first time in his career over a month ago – is  expected to return to the Mariners lineup on Tuesday. M’s fans will hope that his time away will result in the catcher returning to something more closely resembling his 2025 form after getting off to a brutal start at the plate this year.

In 41 games, he’s hitting just .161 with seven home runs and 18 RBI, and he ended an 0-for-38 stretch after showering in his full uniform just before hitting the IL. After he hit two homers (including a grand slam) in one rehab game on June 9, Mariners fans should be licking their chops.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Raleigh’s 60 long-balls in 2025 weren’t just the most in baseball, but they also set a single-season record for the most by a Mariner, a catcher and a switch-hitter. With that being said, can you name the players to lead Major League Baseball in home runs for each season since 1997 can you name in five minutes?

    Good luck!
