It could be just a matter of time before Detroit Tigers left-handed ace Tarik Skubal returns to the mound.
Skubal (elbow) told the media Tuesday he’s scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday. If all goes well, he could return for Detroit’s three-game road stand against the Cleveland Guardians, which begins Friday. The 2025 American League Cy Young winner is confident it will.
Tarik Skubal discusses potential return
“I expect everything to go well tomorrow, and hopefully, I’m back,” Skubal said (h/t The Athletic’s Cody Stavenhagen).
Skubal underwent surgery for loose bodies (bone chips) in his elbow on May 6. Normally, it takes two to three months to recover from the operation, but the pitcher had a cutting-edge procedure to expedite his recovery.
