A loving Alabama father and husband has died following an incredibly vicious attack by a deranged psychopath in Arizona earlier this month.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Jacob Couch and his wife Kristen were sitting on a bus bench on the corner of 6th and Broadway in Tucson on the morning of April 5. After a vacation, they traveled by bus from California back home to Alabama, but decided to stop in Tucson first to explore the area.

Shortly after sitting down, a man approached them and started yelling for some reason. Court records say Jacob, the father of two children, then started arguing with the crazed man when tragedy struck.

Police say the man, 25-year-old Tucson resident Daniel Michael, hit Jacob in the neck with what Kristen described as a machete-type knife.

Jacob started bleeding uncontrollably after being slashed in the neck. Jacob’s sister-In-Law, Erica Sims, revealed that the weapon “cut the artery in the back of his neck in half and went so deep that it hit his skull.”

According to KOLD-TV, court documents reveal that police confronted Michael at his apartment three days later with the evidence. The documents also show that investigators discovered a hatchet matching the weapon used in the attack, as well as the clothes worn during the incident.

Jacob was transported to Banner University Medical Center, where he was placed on life support in the ICU. His family held out little hope that he would survive the attack.

Now, Jacob’s family has confirmed that he passed away Thursday night, after spending two weeks on life support.

AS KGUN reports, Jacob’s sister-in-law Erica Sims confirmed he died at 8:58 p.m. after his heart gave out. She also revealed to KGUN 9 that he had developed pneumonia.

The outlet notes Jacob’s death came just after the Tucson community held a prayer gathering Thursday at 7 p.m. outside of Banner – University Medical Center Tucson for him.

Michael has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, according to KOLD-TV. He is being held on a $1 million bond.

Now that Jacob has died, state homicide charges are expected to be filed.
