A source of strength and liberty inherent in our Constitution has been that powers were traditionally defined narrowly, whereas rights were left open-ended and defined in such a manner as to include future expansion.
The Trump administration has turned this relationship on its head and now acts to define its powers as open-ended and expansive, and acts to define our rights on a narrow and limited scale.
