Tempers flared late in the second quarter of Sunday’s NFC Championship Game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts’ one-yard rushing touchdown gave the Eagles a 20-12 lead. Philadelphia wide receiver A.J. Brown and Washington cornerback Marshon Lattimore got into a scuffle during the play.
Lattimore was flagged for unnecessary roughness, but Brown wasn’t penalized.
The Eagles didn’t take advantage of Lattimore’s penalty. On the next play, they went for two, but Hurts failed to convert.
In eight seasons with the Commanders and the New Orleans Saints, Lattimore won the 2017 Defensive Rookie of the Year Award and made four Pro Bowls. However, he has tested his opponents’ patience in the past.
In a 2022 game, during Week 2, Lattimore and Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans got into a fight. According to The Sporting News’ Michael O’Hara, both were ejected from the game, and Evans was suspended for one game.
Perhaps Lattimore got under Brown’s skin, which resulted in the tussle.
