Cissy Houston Has Died At 91-Years-Old
According to TMZ, Cissy’s death was originally reported by the Associated Press. The Grammy Award winner was surrounded by her family while receiving hospice care, the AP reported.
Mrs. Houston was struggling with Alzheimer’s disease.

Sissy Houston’s Daughter-In-Law Releases Statement
Mrs. Houston’s daughter-in-law, Pat, has released a statement on behalf of the family.
“Mother Cissy has been a strong and towering figure in our lives. A woman of deep faith and conviction, who cared greatly about family, ministry, and community. Her more than seven-decade career in music and entertainment will remain at the forefront of our hearts,” Pat said in the statement.
The AP also reported Pat called Cissy’s musical contributions “unparalleled.” Sissy worked with Elvis Presley. She was also a member of The Sweet Inspirations, who did backing vocal work for many well-known artists, including Dionne Warwick.

The group was also part of the recording of Van Morrison’s legendary track. “Brown Eyed Girl,” and also worked with The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Mrs. Houston was on stage with Presley when she did her last performance with The Sweet Inspirations.
