Why Brooklyn Beckham Skipped His Dad’s 50th Birthday Party

Brooklyn Beckham‘s absence from his father’s birthday bash was for a good cause, at least to everyone around him.

Reports from sources close to the 26-year-old note that his decision to be a no-show at David Beckham‘s 50th birthday alongside his wife, Nicola Peltz, was due to a rumored blast from the past.

Brooklyn Beckham, his wife, and his parents, Victoria and David Beckham, alongside his siblings, have reportedly been nurturing a festering family feud since his marriage to Nicola Peltz.

As a source noted, Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola, chose not to attend David’s 50th birthday bash due to the presence of Romeo Beckham’s then-girlfriend, DJ Kim Turnbull. The DJ had previously been romantically linked to Brooklyn.

Turnbull’s presence and the entire situation reportedly made Brooklyn uncomfortable, leading him to express his reluctance to his father. Despite his son’s complaints, David reportedly went ahead with his plans to include Kim at the event, preferring her over his daughter-in-law.

Another source further defended the couple, sharing that Brooklyn and Nicola had traveled from the US to London, hoping to attend the celebration or organize a more intimate dinner with David. 

However, their efforts were futile as they could not seem to find a way to fit their thoughtful gesture into David’s fully packed schedule. Brooklyn and Nicola reportedly waited about six days to see the legendary footballer, but to no success. 

In the lead-up to the event, an insider agreed that tensions were indeed brewing between Brooklyn, Nicola, and the Beckham family. Per PEOPLE, the source maintained that their relationship at the time was not beyond repair, emphasizing that they still love and support one another.  

“They love and are always there for him. They’re just hurt and disappointed that he’s now playing no part in family life,” the source revealed.

The feud between the older Beckhams and the young couple began building up a few months leading up to Nicola and Brooklyn’s wedding in 2022. 

Insiders shared that Victoria had expressed a burning desire to create Nicola’s wedding dress, a gesture that was seen as meaningful by everyone involved. Things reportedly took a sad turn, and it became evident that designing the dress was not a priority for Victoria.

Upon realizing that she could not make the dress, the former Spice Girls singer reportedly informed Nicola’s mother that she could not fulfill the request. This change, made in private, painted Nicola to the public as being difficult for not wearing a Victoria Beckham gown at her wedding.

The Beckham family also reportedly refused to clarify the whole drama, making the backlash Nicola’s cross to bear alone. Despite the rumors of a feud, shortly after the wedding, Nicola rose to the family’s defense and publicly denied any issues regarding the dress.

In an interview, she explained that while she initially wanted to wear a design by Victoria, circumstances changed when it became clear that it was not feasible. 

Nicola clarified that neither party had objected to the dress, reiterating that the narrative surrounding their purported conflict had been exaggerated.

The Daily Mail confirmed Romeo and Kim have decided to end their romantic relationship after seven months together. Sources from their close circle reportedly note that things hit the rocks in the relationship about three weeks after David’s 50th birthday.

Their decision to move forward as platonic as possible was reportedly very amicable and completely unrelated to the ongoing family feud involving Nicola and Brooklyn.

Their relationship was nothing but enjoyable while it lasted, but at their respective ages, they realized it may not be sustainable, particularly given their demanding careers.

Kim, a busy DJ, and Romeo, also with a hectic work life, found that maintaining “a relationship at this time isn’t conducive to their lives.” The source mentioned that they have remained on friendly terms and have seen each other at various events since their split.

During their short-lived romance, Kim attended several of David’s birthday celebrations, including a party at Cipriani in Miami and a trip to France with the Beckham family. She, alongside the rest of the clan, enjoyed visits to a vineyard in Bordeaux and a restaurant in Paris. 

David and Victoria still reportedly hold Kim in high regard and believe she brought happiness to Romeo’s life during their time together.

A lot went down during Nicola and Brooklyn’s wedding, and what was supposed to be a celebration of love wreaked more havoc on the family. As shared by The Blast, many alleged that Victoria ruined the couple’s 2022 wedding, especially their first dance.

As shared by a source, a long-time friend of the family and celebrated singer, Marc Anthony, offered a first-dance performance from him as a gift to the couple.

As the new couple prepared to be serenaded by the singer’s tunes, Victoria became the proverbial “monster-in-law” by hijacking the poignant moment.
