Yan Diomande has decided to join Paris Saint-Germain should he leave RB Leipzig, rejecting approaches from clubs such as Liverpool and Real Madrid, according to reports.
According to The Athletic, the 19-year-old winger, who is currently representing the Ivory Coast at the World Cup, has chosen to sign with the reigning French and European champions.
The report states that Diomande views the project led by president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting advisor Luis Campos as the ideal environment to continue his career, as he is expected to leave RB Leipzig.
Yan Diomande convinced by PSG project as he eyes Ballon d’Or
The key reason, per the report, is that the winger sees a move to the French capital as a genuine opportunity to compete for trophies every season and to challenge for the Ballon d’Or, an award most recently won by a PSG player in Ousmane Dembele.
The Athletic reports that Liverpool had previously expressed its willingness to make an offer of around €100 million ($110 million). However, the Bundesliga club made it clear that it would not accept anything less than €130 million ($148 million).
At the same time, RB Leipzig is attempting to extend Diomande’s contract, but according to the report, the player wants to leave and has decided to join Paris Saint-Germain.
Another club that has shown interest in Diomande is Real Madrid, according to OK Diario, via Marca.
Although Real Madrid is one of the biggest clubs in soccer history, it is not going through its best period, and its sporting project is, at the very least, unstable.
Over the past two seasons, the Spanish giants have failed to win virtually any major domestic or international trophies.
Meanwhile, PSG has won two consecutive UEFA Champions League titles, making Diomande’s decision appear logical.
