The WNBA on Tuesday released the findings of its investigation into allegations of racism toward Angel Reese.

Reese got heated with Caitlin Clark after being on the receiving end of a hard foul in her Chicago Sky’s season-opening game at the Indiana Fever in Indianapolis on May 17. The WNBA said a day later that it was investigating allegations that racist comments were made during the game toward Reese.

On Tuesday, the WNBA released its findings and said it did not find any evidence of racism directed toward Reese.

“We have investigated the report of racist fan behavior in the vicinity of the court during the May 17, 2025, Chicago Sky at Indiana Fever game,” the WNBA said in a statement, via ESPN’s Michael Voepel and the Associated Press. “Based on information gathered to date, including from relevant fans, team and arena staff, as well as audio and video review of the game, we have not substantiated it.

“The WNBA is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for everyone and will continue to be vigilant in enforcing our fan code of conduct.”

The Fever also released a statement on Tuesday:

We appreciate the swift and thorough process undertaken by the WNBA to investigate these allegations, which were not substantiated,” the Fever said. “At Gainbridge Fieldhouse, we are committed to providing the best possible basketball experience for players and fans where hate speech has absolutely no place.

Reese’s Chicago Sky had begun the season 0-3 entering play on Tuesday. The 23-year-old from LSU has averaged 9.0 points, 13.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game in her second season in the WNBA.
