After an amazing career, it’s time for Lee Corso’s final goodbye

After 38 unforgettable years on ESPN’s “College GameDay” — and over 25 years as a college football coach — Lee Corso is set to don the headgear one final time this Saturday at the Horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio.

To generations of fans, Corso wasn’t just a broadcaster and commentator — he was the reason to wake up early on fall Saturdays. His legendary headgear picks became a tradition, delivered with dramatic flair, one-liners, and unmatched enthusiasm.

Whether it was the spontaneous “Oh, f*** it” pick or calling a dog mascot ugly, Corso’s moments made him a weekly highlight. Fans across the country tuned in not just for analysis — but for him. From wearing a Trojan’s armor to a TCU Horned Frog head, Corso brought joy, unpredictability, and heart to every show.

“This job is like stealing,” Corso once said. “I travel first class in a nice plane. I have a driver waiting for me. I go in a room and have room service. I have a meeting. Then I go to the best game of the weekend and talk football — and they pay me.”

That passion and gratitude have made him beloved not just by fans, but by the entire college football community and all of us will miss him.
