Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski has come under fire over her raw and explicit essay on her life.

One of her major critics is journalist Megyn Kelly, who slammed the model, questioning the essay’s portrayal of motherhood and its tone around childbirth and single parenting.

The piece, titled “Mother F-cker,” follows Emily Ratajkowski’s life after divorce from Sebastian Bear-McClard, including dating and personal reinvention.

Kelly has sharply criticized Ratajkowski’s latest essay, arguing that it presents a troubling message about relationships and self-discovery while packaging it as female empowerment.

Speaking on her SiriusXM show this week, Kelly targeted both Ratajkowski and New York Magazine’s The Cut, which recently published the model’s personal essay, “Mother F-cker.”

The article examines Ratajkowski’s experiences as a single mother navigating life, dating, and identity following the end of her marriage.

Kelly expressed particular concern over the essay’s candid discussion of sex, motherhood, and post-divorce reinvention. According to the former Fox News host, the piece appears to celebrate becoming “a sl-t,” which she believes should not be promoted as empowering, especially to younger women.

The essay details Ratajkowski’s efforts to redefine herself after her divorce, including a period of frequent dating and casual relationships. The model writes openly about questioning “what kind of woman” she wanted to become and shedding aspects of her former identity in the process.

Kelly also objected to Ratajkowski’s reflections on childbirth and motherhood, arguing that the essay focuses heavily on the physical difficulties of the experience while paying less attention to the positive aspects many mothers emphasize when reflecting on having children.

“She became the thing she never wanted to be, which was a single mother,” Kelly said while discussing the article, before slamming her for describing childbirth in a “vile” and “crude” way.

The journalist noted, “I think most women remember some pain around the birth, but when you ask them about the birth, they might say, ‘Oh yeah, I was in a lot of pain,’ but then the very, very next thing they’d say is how wonderful the baby is, and what it’s like to become a mother, and the miracle of that first moment.”

“That’s not really how she describes it,” Kelly added about the supermodel’s essay, in which she described how her baby had “torn her v-gina” during childbirth.

Among the essay’s most talked-about passages is one in which Ratajkowski describes abandoning her former identity in favor of a more liberated version of herself after years of trying to fit a more conventional image.

In one of the article’s most provocative passages, she wrote: “I decided to f-ck my way into a new kind of woman. I wanted to destroy the Madonna, the special girl I’d worked so hard to be before an eight-pound baby had torn my v-gina in two, and replace her with the wh-re.”

Kelly seized on those comments, interpreting them as an endorsement of promiscuity and questioning why such behavior should be viewed as liberating.

“So she talks now about how she’s become a sl-t, really, that’s what she’s decided to do,” she said. “She never had a one-night stand before her separation, but now she wants to be a wh-re.”

Kelly further criticized Ratajkowski’s essay’s presentation, including its cover image, which showed her breastfeeding.

She suggested the feature relied more on shock value than meaningful commentary about motherhood and personal growth.

The former news anchor also argued that Ratajkowski’s essay clashes with views she has expressed in the past about sexism, objectification, and the pressures women face because of their appearance.

She questioned whether the model’s current perspective aligns with her previous criticism of being viewed primarily through a sexualized lens.

“Shame on The Cut for running this,” Kelly stated about the controversial essay.

Beyond Kelly’s remarks, the essay also drew mixed reactions online. While some readers praised Ratajkowski’s honesty about life after divorce, others argued that her experiences were difficult to relate to and did not reflect the realities faced by many single mothers.

Several commenters on The Cut’s social media posts criticized what they saw as a privileged portrayal of single parenthood.

“So out of touch and insulting to single mothers who are truly struggling every day just to survive,” one user commented, per Fox News Digital.

Others argued that Ratajkowski’s status as a wealthy celebrity made her situation fundamentally different from that of average single parents struggling to balance childcare, work, and everyday expenses.

Critics called for more attention to stories that highlight the challenges of mothers dealing with financial insecurity and limited support systems.

“She could easily afford the best care whenever she wants it, and the best foods and the best everything, spare me. Let’s hear the story from a single mom who’s financially barely making ends meet. Post a story with some real depth and grit,” another added.

Ratajkowski has yet to officially address the backlash over her controversial essay.
