    Frankie Muniz is reuniting with his on-screen parents, Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek, for a highly anticipated limited revival of “Malcolm in the Middle.”

    Originally airing from 2000 to 2006 on Fox, “Malcolm in the Middle” was a groundbreaking sitcom that blended comedy with heartfelt family dynamics. The show followed Malcolm, a gifted teenager navigating adolescence while dealing with his eccentric, often over-the-top family, including his well-meaning but chaotic father, Hal (Cranston), and his strict, no-nonsense mother, Lois (Kaczmarek). Over its seven-season run, the series garnered critical acclaim, winning seven Emmy Awards and earning a devoted fan base for its unique storytelling style and memorable performances.

    Now, nearly two decades after the show ended, fans can look forward to revisiting the Wilkerson family as Frankie Muniz is set to reprise his iconic role.

    Frankie Muniz To Star In ‘Malcolm In The Middle’ Reboot

    Muniz is bringing his sitcom parents, Cranston and Kaczmarek, back together for a limited four-episode revival of “Malcolm in the Middle,” set to stream on Disney+, the platform announced on Friday, December 13.

    To celebrate the exciting news, Muniz, now 39, shared a special video featuring himself alongside Cranston and Kaczmarek, giving fans a nostalgic glimpse of the iconic trio back together again. “I have been waiting for this moment for 18 years,” he said. “Let’s find out where Malcolm and his family are now.”

    “25 years since we premiered ‘Malcolm in the Middle.’ I’m so excited… that I may have peed just a little bit,” Cranston joked as Kaczmarek added, “What a delight that I get to yell at that kid again! We’re very, very excited about coming back together and seeing what this family has been up to.”

    “Malcolm in the Middle”—starring Muniz in the titular role—originally aired for seven seasons from 2000 to 2006, becoming a beloved sitcom that followed the hilariously chaotic lives of the Wilkerson family.

    In addition to Muniz, Cranston, and Kaczmarek, the series also starred Christopher Masterson, Justin Berfield, and Erik Per Sullivan, creating a dynamic ensemble cast. The upcoming revival, written and executive produced by Linwood Boomer, the creator of the original series, promises to recapture the family’s wild antics.

    According to a press release, the limited series will focus on Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter as they get swept into the family’s familiar chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) insist on his attendance at their 40th wedding anniversary party.

    “‘Malcolm in the Middle’ is a landmark sitcom that captured the essence of family life with humor, heart and relatability,” Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, said in a statement. “Its hilarious and heartfelt portrayal of a lovably chaotic family resonated with audiences of all ages, and we’re so excited to welcome the original cast back to bring that magic to life again.”

    He added, “With Linwood Boomer and the creative team at the helm, these new episodes will have all the laughs, pranks, and mayhem fans loved — along with a few surprises that remind us why this show is so timeless.”

    While the revival’s premiere date and additional casting details remain under wraps, fans are already buzzing with excitement for this nostalgic reunion.

    “‘Malcolm in the Middle’ literally changed the face of the television comedy landscape when it premiered two decades ago, redefining what the genre could be,” Karey Burke, president of 20th Television, added. “When Linwood Boomer suggested it might be time to bring everyone’s favorite dysfunctional family back for a bit of a reunion, we couldn’t think of a more iconic and influential series to revisit, along with a truly brilliant cast to reunite.”

    Last year, Cranston told E! News that he would “certainly would be open” to a revival.

    “There was some talk about the possibility of doing like a reunion movie of Malcolm in the Middle,” Cranston shared at the time. “We had such a great family on that, and I certainly would be open to that if there was a good idea that came up like, ‘Oh, that would be fantastic to explore what happened to this family 20 years later.’ I can’t believe it’s already that, but that would be fun to do.”
