As baby boomers, we are proud of the Greatest Generation of Americans and of our fathers who served our country in World War II: a U.S. Marine Corps combat pilot in the Pacific and a U.S. Army officer in General Dwight D. Eisenhower’s HQ for the Supreme Allied Command in Europe. Military officers, both decorated for exceptional service and heroism. And our mothers who served and sacrificed on the homefront. They went to war to defeat fascism and imperialism. They continued their commitments through the United Nations conflict in Korea.
Now, we give thanks every day that they are gone, not alive to suffer with seeing what President Donald Trump is doing to threaten the peace that has lasted 80 years, violate the Constitution and laws of the land, forfeit our country’s stature around the world, and betray our allies and the community of free nations.
God save America.
