The Detroit Lions had a rough 2025, despite having strong players on both the offensive and defensive sides of the field. The team wrapped up the season with a 9-8 record and no appearance in the postseason, so this upcoming season will be a make-or-break one for the franchise.
When it comes to any NFL team’s lineup, picking the right rookies is key. Now, the Lions are being urged to cut ties with one Detroit draft pick from 2024.
That player is cornerback Terrion Arnold. He was selected by the Lions in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft but hasn’t lived up to expectations. During his rookie year, he recorded 10 pass breakups and allowed an opponent passer rating of 93.7. Last year, he was out nine games due to injuries.
Lions may be forced to part ways with 2024 draft pick this summer
In a feature from Moe Moton, published on Tuesday via Bleacher Report, the writer names Arnold as the player the Lions should trade this summer.
“The Lions will likely give Arnold another year to rebound from an underwhelming career start, but they re-signed Rock Ya-Sin, who can be a short-term starter,” he notes in the piece.
He adds: “As of now, Ya-Sin can provide pass coverage insurance for a cornerback group snake-bitten by injuries last year, but he could be Arnold’s replacement if the Lions run out of patience with him this summer.”
Brad Berreman of SideLion Report also noted that when head coach Dan Campbell was asked about Arnold and the other developing 2024 rookies during OTAs, in a question from John Maakaron of Lions on SI, Campbell skirted the question and talked about the “entire cornerback room.”
It would be pretty wild to see the Lions trade Arnold as soon as this summer. But, stranger things have happened in the NFL, so it’s a storyline to watch. In general, there’s positive buzz around Detroit this offseason, so that’s a good thing for Lions enthusiasts.
