National Guard troops: ‘Attempt to stifle legitimate protest’

Re: “King County GOP: Why resist National Guard in Seattle?” (Nov. 7, Opinion):
There is no need for National Guard troops in Seattle, or any other city. Many cities with high crime rates are in Republican-led states, but there has been no effort by President Donald Trump to address it. If Trump and Republicans were truly interested in reducing crime, they would appropriate more funds for local police and prosecutors instead of having the National Guard raking leaves in Washington, D.C.

Trump’s efforts are nothing more than an attempt to stifle legitimate protest and opposition to his tyrannical abuses of power. Shame on Republicans.

    Ken Kroemer, Seattle
