News media: The power of shared humor

We had a chance to see columnist and author Dave Barry Tuesday night at Town Hall Seattle. His wonderful wit and sense of humor made us realize how much we miss him and others (including Erma Bombeck, Art Buchwald) in the paper. Barry reminded us how expensive it is to a newspaper’s budget to have these type of columns in the paper anymore.

In today’s divided world, how refreshing it would be to have columns that included shared humor and common ground, and have no political or hateful rhetoric. A nostalgic thought.

    Susan Mise, Seattle
