Re: “State should offer people with disabilities dignity, choice” (Dec. 18, Opinion)
The state Legislature has difficult decisions to make in regards to balancing the budget in the session starting in January.
But, as the writer pointed out, supporting people with disabilities in their communities is more economical and humane than institutions and hospitalizations.
With more than 23,000 people on the waitlist for services, this state needs to do better by its most vulnerable citizens. Let’s not repeat the mistakes made during the last financial crisis.
