In 2025, the Los Angeles Dodgers swept the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS en route to their second-straight World Series championship. In 2026 – after rallying from a 4-run deficit in Game 4 at Dodger Stadium – the Milwaukee Brewers returned the favor to reach their first Fall Classic since 1982.
It was once again the combination of Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell delivering for the Brewers, following up their back-to-back HR performance in Game 3 by driving in four of Milwaukee’s six runs in the series-clincher.
After the Dodgers sprinted out to a 4-0 lead, Bauers cut the lead in half with a fourth-inning ground-rule double. He recorded his sixth RBI of the series in the next inning by drawing a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at 4 and set up Mitchell’s dramatic solo-shot in the sixth.
Very few people in Milwaukee would have predicted a performance like this on this stage for Bauers after his 2024 season, when he hit .199 in 116 games and nearly retired.
“The only thing that brought me back was that my wife got pregnant and I was like, ‘Well, we need health insurance’,” Bauers told the MLB on Fox crew after the win.
