Are Braves giving up on a potential Marcell Ozuna trade?

With the 2025 MLB trade deadline quickly approaching, an Atlanta Braves decision surrounding Marcell Ozuna and his near-term future with the franchise could be taking an interesting turn.

Ozuna, who has been the subject of trade rumors with the Braves starting Saturday 9.5 games out of the final National League wild-card spot, wasn’t in the Atlanta lineup for the second straight day on Saturday. Prior to the All-Star Game, the 34-year-old slugger had appeared in the lineup for 90 games as the team’s designated hitter. However, a message from Atlanta manager Brian Snitker seemed to indicate those days may be coming to an end.

On Friday, Sean Murphy took over as the team’s designated hitter while Drake Baldwin served as the Atlanta catcher. On Saturday, those roles were reversed as Snitker relied on his two catchers to fill both spots in the lineup while Ozuna sat.
