Courtney Thorne-Smith has filed for divorcefrom her husband, Roger Fishman.

The estranged couple has been married for over 18 years and has seemingly been going through a rough patch in their relationship, as indicated by their date of separation.

Courtney Thorne-Smith has always been open about her love life and previously weighed in on working with and dating her “handsome” male co-stars, including Andrew Shue.

According to TMZ, the “Melrose Place” star made the divorce filing without a lawyer earlier this week, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

It appears that their marriage has been over for quite some time now, as her filing comes nearly four years after she says they separated. Thorne-Smith listed their date of separation as September 1, 2021, implying that they’ve both been living separate lives since.

The 57-year-old actress and Fishman tied the knot on New Year’s Day in 2007 and welcomed their only child, son Jacob Emerson Fishman, approximately a year later.

With Jacob turning 18 next year, the estranged couple will soon come out of co-parenting a minor. According to the news outlet, Thorne-Smith is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their son.

The filing indicates that she has also requested the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to either herself or Fishman.

Thorne-Smith’s divorce from Fishman makes it her second marriage to have fallen apart, as she previously married geneticist Andrew Conrad in 2000 before splitting from him in 2001.

Apart from Conrad, she also dated a few famous names, including her “Melrose Place” co-star Andrew Shue back in the ’90s.

In a previous chat with People Magazine, she remembered being “charmed” by Shue in the pilot of the show.

“I didn’t remember so much of the pilot,” Thorne-Smith admitted. “I did remember shooting with Andrew for the first time. The scene that I remember that we talked about that was so much fun was him dancing. When he’s dancing — you can actually see it in my face — how charmed I am.”

She continued, “I was being completely charmed by Andrew in that moment. It was so adorable. So I just remember him and him coming in with this sweet, sweet energy and how much fun it was to do that with him.”

Things ultimately went sour between Thorne-Smith and Shue, leading her to place professional boundaries for them to follow on “Melrose Place.”

During an August 2024 episode of the “Still The Place” podcast, she recalled filming the show with Shue after their breakup, saying that the experience was “shockingly not weird,” while Shue agreed, but added “There was a little bit of time where it was tough,” per People Magazine.

Even though they stopped dating in real life, their characters, Allison Parker and Billy Campbell, began dating on the show, and Thorne-Smith had to put up some restrictions on how they would proceed with their work.

“Do you remember me having to talk with you because the characters were still dating and you and I weren’t dating?” she recalled. “So we’d been broken up for two months, and then we had to kiss. You remember me saying, ‘Okay, now we’re professionals, no tongue?'”

“Because we were dating before we were dating on the show, then we were dating on the show after we broke up in real life,” she continued. “But you and I segued into friendship really well. I don’t remember a lot of tension.”

Despite their strained relationship, Thorne-Smith and Shue continued supporting each other as the actor corroborated her sentiments.

“Yeah, our relationship, we helped carry each other through a very intense time,” he explained. “The show got a lot of attention. I know you had already been fairly well known, but we were dealing with a lot of, we’ll call it, Fox celebrity craziness.”

“And I remember just feeling safe knowing we were together, guiding each other through it,” he added.
