Heidi Klum once again went all out for her annual Halloween party, delivering another show-stopping costume that had everyone talking. However, there was one personal touch on this year’s look that had a special connection to her husband, Tom Kaulitz. Although the musician was notably absent from the festivities, Klum found a way to make him part of the Halloween fun.
Heidi Klum’s Gory Halloween Look Featured Her Own Severed Hand
This year marked the 25th anniversary of Heidi Klum’s annual Halloween party, and the supermodel once again went all out, transforming herself into a gruesome spectacle complete with bloody details.
Klum went as a severed hand, but not just any hand. Her elaborate costume was modeled after her own left hand, making the creepy look all the more personal.
She talked to Entertainment Tonight and shared details of her costume, saying that the thumb ring is an accessory she has not taken off for the past two decades. Her ring finger had a stack of rings, which included her engagement ring and wedding band. Klum noted that her husband wasn’t attending the party, so she found a way to have him with her.
As she turned around, she revealed the name “TOM” scribbled on one of the fingers, replicating the tattoo that she has in real life. “He’s always with me,” Klum said.
Tom Kaulitz Is Out On Tour
Kaulitz is typically present for Klum’s Halloween parties, but the guitarist is currently on tour with his group, German rock and electropop band Tokio Hotel, in Europe.
Klum said they will reunite when she joins him in the upcoming legs of the tour. A day before her Halloween party, Klum posted a photo of her hand palm up, exposing her “Tom” tattoo. “Tom I miss you,” she captioned the post. She also had red nails, like her costume.
What seemed to be a simple declaration for her husband turned out to be a hint of her Halloween ensemble. “I can’t believe this is the biggest hint of what the costume was going to be but would never have guessed it,” one follower commented on the post after her reveal.

Klum has become known for her elaborate Halloween transformations, and since they started their relationship, she’s teamed up with her husband for coordinated couples costumes.
In 2018, months after they began dating, the couple attended the Halloween bash as Shrek and Princess Fiona and went full ogre with prosthetics that made them look as though they stepped straight out of the DreamWorks franchise.
The following year, for their first Halloween as husband and wife, the model went as an alien while Kaulitz was a bloody astronaut.
The couple’s costumes continued to impress in the years that followed. In 2022, Klum transformed into a giant worm while Kaulitz played a fisherman. The next year, she was a peacock, with her husband dressed as a massive egg. They switched things up in 2024 as E.T. and a female version of the alien, before taking on a mythological theme in 2025, with Klum as Medusa and Kaulitz as a warrior turned to stone.
The Model’s Costume Was Conceptualized In 2025
Klum often works with prosthetic designer and special effects makeup artist Mike Marino for her costumes. The award-winning artist revealed that this year’s severed hand costume was conceptualized as soon as the Halloween party ended in 2025.
As for how the giant hand was created, Marino told Allure that it had harnesses and mechanics inside that allowed Klum to move in a fluid motion. Despite its massive size, he revealed that the hand was made of lightweight foam and latex, making it weigh just about 8 to 10 pounds.
Klum’s face was concealed, with her eyes, nostrils, and tongue peeking out through the “muscle, organs, and fat” that were expertly done with prosthetics.
Heidi Klum Skipped Hosting Only Two Halloween Parties Since 2000
Klum began her Halloween party tradition in 2000, and she has kept it going almost every year since. The only exceptions were 2020 and 2021, due to the COVID pandemic.
In 2012, the Halloween party was canceled due to Hurricane Sandy, but it proceeded in December that same year and was rebranded as a “Haunted Holiday Party,” wherein the model raised funds for the Red Cross.
Klum never thought her Halloween parties were going to go on for years, but now she doesn’t want to stop. When I moved to America, I immediately fell in love with Halloween and the spookiness of it. All that was missing was a fantastic party. It felt like a real opportunity for me,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018.
With this year’s festivities behind her, Klum may already be dreaming up another transformation for next year’s celebration.
