I recently resigned from the Washington State Bar Association so I am no longer an attorney in Washington state. I wholeheartedly agree with op-ed author Mick Tronquet’s position that attorneys making unsupportable arguments should be disciplined.
Clients can be expected to demand extreme positions, but the system expects the attorney to advise the client the position is unsupportable, and not waste precious court time and resources. If this is not done the attorney(s) should be disciplined, even up to disbarment. We need to protect our system so that it can work, not be hijacked.
