Steph Curry had intriguing comment about leaving Warriors

Stephen Curry had an intriguing comment about potentially playing for a franchise other than the Golden State Warriors before his NBA career ends.

Curry’s father Dell recently had his No. 30 retired by the Charlotte Hornets, but Dell made clear he would allow his son to wear the number if he ever played for the franchise. When asked about the possibility, Steph never exactly said it wasn’t going to happen.

“You always keep your options open,” Curry told WSOC, via BasketNews. “I know what that means when you get your jersey retired, it’s immortalized. Nobody should be able to touch it, but yeah. I’m sure he’d be able to make a special exception if that was the case.”

Curry has never done anything to suggest that he wants to finish his career with a team other than the Warriors. He has said he plans to continue playing as long as he can, but it would still be a shock to see him leave the organization under any circumstances.

On the other hand, Charlotte is one place where it would make at least a bit of sense. He has explicitly said that the Hornets are the one team other than the Warriors he might consider playing for, even though it is certainly a longshot.

Curry is signed with the Warriors through next season. Perhaps he will assess things at that point.
